The Next Big Step

After you have your little work space set up. You then need to form a game plan. Every successful business has a game plan. They have a direction they want to take their business and they know what they need to do to get it done. Now is your turn. This is like goal setting, but it is also about structure. You can do this really formally with an official business plan or you can do this informally with some notes on a piece of paper. I suggest writting a business plan as that will get you pumped and motivated to get some work done.
This first thing you want to do is identify what exactly it is that your business does.
Do you:
- Run PPC campaigns
- Run PPV campaigns
- Perform SEO for others
- Build websites for others
- Build personal websites
- Web design for others
- Copy writing for others
There is a whole list of things that you business can do. My suggestion as you are starting out is to pick only one or two things that you know how to do and learn to do them really well. Once you get that down then branch out. Look at how my business was structured. I started doing PPC for myself. Then I started to do PPC for small businesses. Then I did SEO for small businesses. And lastely I added webdesign for small businesses. That means that I went from doing PPC for myself to a full on PPC, SEO, and design service for small businesses. Just because you are an Internet Marketer does not mean that you have to ONLY do your Internet Marketing. Some of my best clients paid me $10,000 just to perform SEO, and set up (not manage) a PPC campaign. That’s a lot of money for a little bit of work. The great thing is that they were happy because they didn’t know how to do it… But they found someone that could do it well.
When you start out though you don’t want to jump right in and do PPC for other people. First you should learn how to do it yourself. Once you get the basics down and you can set up your campaign, split test, and overall run them, then you can run them for other people. Think of it like this. You are new in the industry… You don’t have a lot of money to spend. But with the little money that you do you have you begin to consistantly make some money online. Someone in your area hears through the grape vine that you market websites online. So they approach you and say, “I have a $15,000 monthly advertising budget. How can you help me?” BOOM. Instant and easy money for you. You can get even more practice in online marketing WITHOUT using your own money. I kid you not when I saw there are people out there with rediculous budgets that have NO clue what do to with it. And they will look for the person that can do it. They are out there. Sometimes it takes some digging to find them… But they are there.
Sorry I went on a little rant there.
Figure out what your plan of attack will be and go for it. Whether its for yourself or for others you need to know and have written down what exactly you will do. That will help to keep you more focused.
DO NOT take on too many projects at one time. I tell this to a lot to people that I talk with. If you do you will only get discouraged as you have NO completed websites making you money. Slow and steady wins the race. I promise you this: If you work on one project to completion, then you WILL NOT get discouraged and you WILL begin to make money online. Completion isn’t just a built website… It is also getting traffic to the site and optimizing the site to the traffic.
