More Time Warner Content Heading To YouTube

YouTube seems determined to not lose any more ground to Hulu, and that’s good news for users.  Google’s video-sharing site has reached an agreement with Time Warner that’ll have it gaining some very popular, professionally-produced content.

An official statement explained, "Consumers will have easier access to a wide selection of existing and future clips, ranging from CNN news coverage to Cartoon Network and Adult Swim animated shows to TNT’s hit dramas to Warner Bros. Television productions like ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’"

The one problem with that sentence (aside from its awkward length) is the word "clips."  The YouTube and Time Warner agreement does indeed seem to focus on short-form content, meaning people won’t get to sit down and enjoy whole shows as they do with Hulu.

Still, Chad Hurley, the cofounder and CEO of YouTube, said, "This partnership with Time Warner will provide our community with some of the most popular video content produced.  We hope to build on this deal and look forward to a long and productive relationship."

And indeed, it’s worth noting that this deal already represents a sort of addition to another one, since Time Warner properties like CNN International and HBO have had presences on YouTube for a while.
